About the Club
Wolfson College Boat Club is one of the premiere college boat clubs within the Oxford University system. As one of the many clubs and societies associated with Wolfson College, we train year-round on the Isis and compete in regattas within Oxford and beyond. We are open to all members of Wolfson College as well as St. Cross College.
WCBC is a dynamic community of students and fellows and is very active in the life of the college. Social events take place throughout the year, including crew dates, barbecues, bops, and the famous boat club dinners after each major regatta.
Club History
Wolfson College Boat Club first competed in Summer VIIIs on Wednesday 28th May 1969, only 3 years after Sir Isaiah Berlin was named head of Wolfson College, and several years before the first of Wolfson’s buildings was opened. Since then, we were a founding competitor in the women’s bumps divisions, fought through a boathouse arson, and celebrated blades and headships.
